Incorrect, Red Materials

Your model, or parts of it, may appear red even though that is not the intended appearance.

Why This Happens

This typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the material type used in your scene and the material type exported from your DCC application. When the exported material type does not match what exists in the scene, the renderer cannot properly interpret the material and falls back to a default red appearance.

How to Fix It

Ensure that the material type in your export matches the material type in your scene:

  • If your scene uses MaterialX materials, export using MaterialX
  • If your scene uses USD Preview Surface materials, export using USD Preview Surface

Tip: We recommend exporting USD Preview Surface materials, as they are more widely supported.
